Mama’s got a Brand New Tote
Inspired by and dedicated to Rock the Slut Vote, RTSV founder Susan McMillan Emry and spokeswoman (RTSV) and author Kimberly A. Johnson

Attention please!
Zip up the remote.
Drop the objectifying,
The projection you gloat.

Freedom is more than a word
To a woman who is unheard.

We ban together.
For them, we concur.
Women’s rights will no longer be deferred.

You will not tell us what we can or cannot do.
This thinking is flawed,
Along with the hatred spewed.

Keep calling us nasty names.
Play this game.

We're so good at it,
We'll drive you insane.

We can take any word,
Turn it around,
Put it in your face,
And make you frown.
Tilt your head.
We'll astound.
Now it empowers and our reasons are sound!

So when you have no more sanity for your defense,
Call us anything – even a sin.

You see.
It's a win! win!

We are victorious.
We are strength.
Mess with our young and all hell will break.

We make the world a brighter place.
We're a gentle, potent power that cannot be replaced.

Unarmored courage,
They carried it for the average Jayne.
Our leaders before us will not be in vain.
The history of women,
And all those slain,

We will never forget
All that they did for our rights.
It's a spiritual bond.
We shall unite.

We reach back
And take to flight…

This baggage we’ve outgrown.
We’ve carried it so long, we bemoan.

Jot this down.
Take some notes.
Stand up ladies!
And “Rock the Slut Vote!”

Because mama’s got a brand new tote!
